– Our perspective

Better decisions comes from better preparation.

In defence, security and tactical medicine, decisions are made under time pressure, uncertainty and incomplete information. Situations evolve quickly, and consequences are real. In these environments, it’s not enough to know what to do — what matters is the ability to interpret, prioritise and act.

The idea:

Traditional approaches often separate thinking from doing. Training focuses on procedures. Systems focus on data. But real-world performance depends on how people make sense of situations in the moment.

Tactisim exists to explore that gap.

We focus on how simulation, decision support and human–system interaction can be used to strengthen decision-making in complex environments. This includes how people train, how systems present information, and how cognitive load affects judgement and action.

Our work is not centred around a single product or solution. Instead, we explore multiple approaches — from scenario-based training and simulation to wearable technologies and AI-supported decision support.

What connects these areas is a shared question:

How do we help people make better decisions when it matters most?

We approach this through experimentation, prototypes and applied projects — working at the intersection of technology, training and human performance.
